Top Secret/Majic

A densely detailed investigation of the Majestic-12 documents by one of the most credible of UFO researchers. Friedman’s hard-science background and no-nonsense analytical approach to UFOs is a refreshing change from the soft-headed mush that populates many UFO reading lists. From his years of research, Friedman tentatively concludes that the MJ-12 docs are authentic and blames a conspiracy at the highest levels of the U.S. government for perpetuating a cold-war climate of need-to-know secrecy surrounding the recovery of several crashed UFOs. Especially at Roswell, and needlessly since the cold war is over and the sophistication and level of knowledge of today’s public renders it far less susceptible to the kind of panic caused by Mercury Theater’s War of the Worlds broadcast of 1938, an alleged concern of the government in the 1940s. His reasoning is logical and persuasive, though of necessity he—like so many UFO researchers—argues more often from lack of evidence than from evidence. At times his credulity seems stretched, for instance when he devotes an entire chapter to the alleged alien autopsy film, though to be fair, Friedman makes it clear that he early on decided it was a fraud. All in all, Top Secret is a must-read for UFO enthusiasts, from the man who almost single-handedly put Roswell on the map. —SiriusReviews.com.
